The challenge was to create an online catalogue that accurately reflects their inventory. This can be a difficult task, as there are many different factors that need to be taken into account when creating an online catalogue.
First and foremost, businesses need to ensure that their inventory is accurate and up-to-date. This can be a challenge in itself, as inventory can change on a daily basis. businesses need to have a system in place that allows them to quickly and easily update their online catalogue whenever their inventory changes.
Another Important point for an online catalogue is making sure that all of the products they offer are accurately represented. This means ensuring that product descriptions are accurate and that product photos are clear and representative of the actual product. This can be a time-consuming task, but it is essential in order to create an effective online catalogue.
It can be a lot of work to keep an online catalogue up-to-date, but it is essential in order to maintain a successful online presence.
A online sales catalogue system needs to be able to sync with a real time stock management system in order to provide accurate information to customers. This can be a challenge if the two systems are not compatible or if there is a delay in the synchronization. In this case study, we will looked at how one company was able to overcome these challenges and provide an efficient and accurate online sales catalogue.
The company in question is an online retailer that sells products through a number of different channels, including their own website, third-party websites, and physical stores. In order to keep track of inventory levels and ensure that customer orders can be fulfilled promptly, it is essential that the company's online sales catalogue is synced with their real-time stock management system.
External inventory systems are often used by businesses to keep track of their stock levels, and they can be very useful for online sales catalogue systems. There are a few different ways to connect an external inventory system with an online sales catalogue system, and the best solution will depend on the specific needs of the business.
One option is to use an API (Application Programming Interface) to connect the two systems. This can be done using a web-based API or a software-based API. The advantage of using an API is that it can be easily updated if the inventory system changes, and it also allows businesses to choose which data from the inventory system is made available to the online sales catalogue system.
But the existing inventory application was not supporting any API, so we had to study their existing inventory system which was a application installed on the server on premises. We studied the existing application and created a real time API to fetch the products master.
Based on the product master and the unique product code another API service was created in order to fetch the inventory for each SKU/product code.
The API was created on a middleware to protect the existing system from the external network attacks. Necessary firewalls were also applied for additional security.
The best solution for connecting an external inventory system with an online sales catalogue system will vary depending on the specific needs of the business. However, both API and file-based approaches have their advantages and disadvantages, so it is important to consider all options before making a decision.
There are many benefits to having an online sales catalogue system. Perhaps the most obvious benefit is that it allows you to reach a larger audience with your product or service. With an online presence, you can sell to people all over the world, not just those in your local area.
The system features an easy-to-use admin panel for managing products, categories, and bulk imports via Excel. It allows easy order tracking, payment history, and data export for operations teams. The sales team appreciated its simplicity, convenience, and efficiency, enhancing their ability to manage orders and support effectively.
The implementation of the system has had a significant impact across various areas. It has led to 100% organized products, ensuring better categorization and management. Inventory accuracy reached 100%, greatly reducing errors in tracking. The system also resulted in a 90% saving in printing catalogue costs, streamlining operations. Additionally, there was a 200% increase in customer interactions, enhancing engagement and overall customer satisfaction.
The challenge of creating an accurate and up-to-date online sales catalogue was overcome by developing a real-time API solution that synchronized the company’s existing inventory system with their online platform. Despite the initial limitations of the inventory application, a middleware API was created to ensure security and real-time data access. This integration allowed the business to maintain an accurate catalogue across various sales channels, improving efficiency and customer satisfaction. Ultimately, the solution enhanced the company’s ability to manage inventory, reduce errors, and expand its reach to a global audience, ensuring a successful online presence.
